Written : Tuesday 1st Aug 23The first and most important thing to do with my inaugural message is to thank the simply wonderful Julie Halsey (nee Coulter). Julie has put in a tremendous amount of effort during the 5+ years as Touch Chair, we should all be incredibly thankful for the time, attention to detail and love she has given to make Surrey Bisons the great thing we proudly call our club. There is no doubt I have a big job on my hands to uphold the standards Julie has set, and to be on the same board in the clubhouse as Julie and the other former Touch Chairs.
Representing your country at anything is an incredible achievement and I want to congratulate Billy Togher, Marcus Arman and Em Oliver for their recent successes at the Atlantic Youth Cup. I also want to congratulate the 7 Surrey Bisons players representing their respective nations in the upcoming Euros and the 5 Surrey Bisons players coaching at the upcoming Euros. You should all be incredibly proud, and we know you will be amazing at showing the best of your abilities during the competition.
I immensely enjoy being one of the 200+ members of Surrey Bisons a number I aspire to increase during the next period, these members range from those who are experiencing the joy of rugby in some form for the first time to as I mentioned above experienced and successful internationals with everything in between. This demonstrates a couple of things in my opinion, we are a club that is incredibly passionate about touch rugby and rugby in general, but more importantly a club that provides a platform where everyone in the world is welcome, welcome to be the best most authentic version of themselves and enjoy the greatest form of exercise there is.
