Guildfordians walking rugby welcome Old Reigatians on the coldest day
Created : 10th Dec 21
Saturday 27 November, 7.00am – Driving sleety rain...not the most auspicious start to the day!
10.15am – the eco-friendly Chiddingfold contingent of Guildfordians RFC arrive at the clubhouse in one vehicle. Some Old Reigatians are already at Stoke Park, turning blue. These guys are keen! Guildfordians Brian is setting out the pitches – alone. Others think about going to help but are driven back inside by the biting wind – supervision from the bar seems infinitely preferable.
11.00am - we have 15 Old Reigatians and 17 Guildfordians so split into 4 teams of 8 so that everyone is on the pitch (not a day to be dallying on the touch line). Each team plays 2 games in the friendliest of spirits – thanks all. Then mulled wine to warm our cockles before back to the pitches for final games between baa-baas teams of mixed up Guildfordians and Old Reigatians players.
Off to the changing rooms to get rid of muddy gear (kudos to the brave soul who risked the showers) & then to .....More

Walking Rugby v Topsham - Friday 15th October 2021
Created : 27th Oct 21
On Friday 15th October, the newest section of Guildfordians Rugby Club with the oldest members welcomed Topsham RFC (on tour from Devon) for an evening fixture. Guildfordians fielded two teams, Topsham one team and a fourth consisted of members from both clubs to make a Baa-Baas team.
We have history with Topsham having lost to them in the final of the Vintage Games in Bath in 2019, so it was good to welcome and become reacquainted with old friends and foes.
All teams played each other and in the spirit of TREDS
(Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship) no scores were kept but all games were keenly contested and enjoyed.
After the games we retreated to Guildfordians clubhouse for something to eat and drink, and in true fashion, we talked about the game and recounted stories of deeds long forgotten.
For those who have not come across walking rugby, it is a non contact game played in mixed gender teams. It is a great cardio workout and .....More
Guildfordians U15 Girls v Bracknell in the National Cup 17th Oct 21
Created : 20th Oct 21
The Guildfordians U15s Girls, played their first full 15 a side match at Bracknell in the National cup on 17.10.21.
From the start it was evident all their hard work in pre season and practice sessions, they were ready to enjoy themselves.
Early on a big hit from Lucy on the Bracknell skipper set the tone for the Team.
Within the first 10 minutes the Girls and scored 3 tires and Charlotte was converting these for fun.
Highlight was a team try from Jasmine, off a lineout on the Bracknell 22 that went quickly down the line.
Bracknell started to respond late in the half ,Georgia made the tackle of the match on the imposing Bracknell Skipper, to reinforce the girls were not going let their strong defensive line be breached.
It was 50 nil at half time.
Trys from Sophie - 3 ,Jess - 2,Dita - 1,Lucy - 1, Jasmine - 1 Conversions Charlotte -10
Bracknell to their credit were happy to play the second half and very soon Guildfordians were maki.....More

Does your Rugby Referee career start here?...
Created : 6th Sep 21
"It is great to finally be back to full rugby at Stoke Park and good to see so many players back and enjoying this great game. With competitive rugby back on the agenda, the need for referees has never been keener. So we are looking to train up more girls, boys, women and men to take on this very rewarding role in our sport.

Anyone has the potential to be a great referee. Players can make great referees and in turn refereeing can improve your game on the pitch too. Before lockdown we had three U15 & U18 girl players who all refereed their first games and loved it so don't be shy, come and have a go and see what all the fuss is about.
Guildfordians is lucky to have six club referees who are also active members of the London Society of RFU Referees and who are regularly out and about across SE England on a Saturday mo.....More
Kingswood Walking Rugby Festival 28th August 2021
Created : 29th Aug 21
10 players from Guildfordians Walking Rugby squad set off for Bristol on Saturday morning to take part in Kingswood RFC’s walking rugby festival.
We nearly lost Carl before the first game as he tried to single-handedly deliver our ‘best in show’ gazebo to the eagerly awaiting gang then Brian and Shaun nearly passed their initiation test as we watched them trying to erect it!
With 18 teams taking part, some from as far afield as Wales and Devon, it was a chance to get reacquainted with some old friends and also make some new ones. Each team played 6 games, there was no overall tournament winner and our squad did themselves proud with 5 wins (4-1 against Chippenham, 2-1 against Crickhowell, 8-2 against Bristol Pioneers, 5-3 against Newent, 4-0 against Crediton) and a 4-4 draw with Salisbury. With 27 tries scored over the day, only Cardiff Barbarians topped us with 28.
There were some interesting discrepancies between the referees, especially with re.....More
Bring a friend to Senior Training Tuesday 3rd August
Created : 28th Jul 21
In an effort to build our community and recruit new players, we are asking everyone to bring a friend to training to #JoinTheHerd for the evening!
This could be a work colleague, uni mate, school friend, or just a random guy from the pub; just invite who you fancy - no previous rugby experience needed.
It will take place on Tuesday 3rd August to give everyone a chance to ask around. We will not be training the week before so let’s make sure we get big numbers. There will be beers afterwards if you want to sweeten the deal (although surely you shouldn’t have to). Extra beers/maybe even some FOOD available for those who do, in fact, bring a mate.
Let me know if you have any questions.
