Weekly Update 19th June
Created : 22nd Jun 20
We are sending all our best wishes to you as some of the restrictions are reduced and an element of normality starts to return. But, there’s no rugby as yet. We are still in the planning and preparation stage and we’re doing everything we can to be ready. In the meantime, stay safe out there.
Your committee met on Monday 15th on Zoom and the meeting was very well attended by section chairs, coaches and other members leading the charge on different important aspects of club life. We discussed a long list of key topics including, of course, the key safety issues associated with the re-start of training and, in due course, playing. Player fitness was a key topic and, whilst staying safe, all members are encouraged to continue to exercise and keep well - ahead of the great return of rugby.
There are certain regulations which we need to adhere to, as we plan to return to Stoke Park, and the committee reviewed the club policy document on Social Distancing and assessed the exercise programmes currently being led within certain sections.
If you want to discuss anything to do with the transition to training and playing, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any of the committee members.
Alongside this week’s update, there is a Spotlight on our amazing Touch section. This is the second in our series of Spotlights on each section of the Club. Please like, comment on and share all our posts on social media. It really helps get the message out. New Instagram page for the Club
The committee also discussed the club’s Marketing & Communications activities and agreed to keep the weekly messages going. We are approaching our club communications with renewed energy. We want everyone in the Guildford area to know that we are a great club. We want to enthuse our members and recruit more members and players. We are THE Guildford based club. You all have a part to play in this, especially with our social media campaign! In addition to the existing section specific pages, we have launched a new club-wide Instagram page which will include announcements, events, photos and everything else from all sections of Guildfordians RFC, including seniors, juniors, minis, touch and walking rugby.
Please follow us on Instagram - @guildfordiansrfc - and be sure to like and share our posts. The more people who like and share posts, the greater the reach for our communications. Each section also has their own section social media including: @guildfordians_rfc_seniors, @guildfordiansrfcgirls and @surreybisons
That’s it for this week’s update except for a reminder of the competition. Please get designing. We’ve extended the deadline to 30th June.
There is a competition for all ages – to design a player recruitment poster for any section of the Club. Fabulous prizes are available! We particularly invite home painted or created works of art by the younger members, but also clever digital submissions from the hi-tech seniors are also very welcome. Please submit any entries to email@example.com by 30th June. To have a good chance of winning, please make sure you use the Guildfordians’ colour scheme of maroon and green. Apart from that, the sky’s the limit and the world’s your oyster. Entries will be posted on social media.
Take careTrevor Greenwood - Chairman
