Weekly Update 19th June
Created : 22/06/2020
We are sending all our best wishes to you as some of the restrictions are reduced and an element of normality starts to return. But, there’s no rugby as yet. We are still in the planning and preparation stage and we’re doing everything we can to be ready. In the meantime, stay safe out there.
Your committee met on Monday 15th on Zoom and the meeting was very well attended by section chairs, coaches and other members leading the charge on different important aspects of club life. We discussed a long list of key topics including, of course, the key safety issues associated with the re-start of training and, in due course, playing. Player fitness was a key topic and, whilst staying safe, all members are encouraged to continue to exercise and keep well - ahead of the great return of rugby.
There are certain regulations which we need to adhere to, as we plan to return to Stoke Park, and the committee reviewed the club policy document on Social Distancing and assessed .....More
Weekly Update 12th June
Created : 12/06/2020
Your committee very much hopes that all is well with you and your families this week. There is no big news, so it’s a shorter update this week. Sighs of relief all round! Planning and preparation are continuing but we have no way of knowing what the coming weeks will bring. So, as the Government says, we stay alert.
Your GRFC committee is meeting on Monday 15th, as a regular meeting but now held by Zoom. We will continue to plan the re-start of rugby across the sections but also start to reinstate some of the longer-term projects. For example, defining our next 5 years’ objectives and the necessary and desirable alterations to the Clubhouse will be discussed.
Player and member recruitment for all sections will need to be addressed soon and this won’t be straightforward against the current backdrop. Most sections will be hoping to have a new, if virtual, season starting in the coming months, hopefully with some training. Touch have a different pattern bu.....More

Weekly Update 5th June

We hope that this last week has gone well for you and that you and your family are staying healthy. We are in very difficult and confusing times, as lockdown restrictions are reduced and furlough and other complicated changes come on top of generally bad news.
The reactions around the world to the events in the US will have struck us all and important injustices have been quite rightly highlighted. It seems a good moment to state categorically that GRFC stands against systemic bias, racism and unequal treatment that can still be found in our communities and, sadly, in sport. We are fully committed to inclusion and will strive to continue to improve our approaches, our facilities and any other aspect of Guildfordians’ life to demonstrate those values.
Quite a number of changes in rules and guidance have emerged this last week and, although there are a number of voices, including those of leading scientists, who argue caution, a few relevant changes have been .....More

We hope you are staying healthy and that your family and loved ones are well and coping with this worldwide tragedy.
The last two months have brought no rugby (except, perhaps, glorious highlights of past matches) and have tested each and every one of us in different ways. So many people have been on a 'coronacoaster’ of emotions, worrying about the world, the country, the county, the town of Guildford and the future for jobs, the economy and public health.
In the rugby community, we are all still hoping for training over the summer, even if separately, and for a real start to a full season in September. We are hoping that the minis, youth, girls, Touch, Walking and seniors will all be fit and raring to go and welcoming new members. Your committee is still meeting and making the plans that we can. We are discussing essential tasks, planning our communications and liaising closely across all the sections. We have our sepa.....More
