Does your Rugby Referee career start here?...
Created : 6th Sep 21

"It is great to finally be back to full rugby at Stoke Park and good to see so many players back and enjoying this great game. With competitive rugby back on the agenda, the need for referees has never been keener. So we are looking to train up more girls, boys, women and men to take on this very rewarding role in our sport.

Ex players and coaches

Anyone has the potential to be a great referee. Players can make great referees and in turn refereeing can improve your game on the pitch too. Before lockdown we had three U15 & U18 girl players who all refereed their first games and loved it so don't be shy, come and have a go and see what all the fuss is about.

Guildfordians is lucky to have six club referees who are also active members of the London Society of RFU Referees and who are regularly out and about across SE England on a Saturday mo.....More

Kingswood Walking Rugby Festival 28th August 2021
Created : 29th Aug 21

10 players from Guildfordians Walking Rugby squad set off for Bristol on Saturday morning to take part in Kingswood RFC’s walking rugby festival.

We nearly lost Carl before the first game as he tried to single-handedly deliver our ‘best in show’ gazebo to the eagerly awaiting gang then Brian and Shaun nearly passed their initiation test as we watched them trying to erect it!

With 18 teams taking part, some from as far afield as Wales and Devon, it was a chance to get reacquainted with some old friends and also make some new ones. Each team played 6 games, there was no overall tournament winner and our squad did themselves proud with 5 wins (4-1 against Chippenham, 2-1 against Crickhowell, 8-2 against Bristol Pioneers, 5-3 against Newent, 4-0 against Crediton) and a 4-4 draw with Salisbury. With 27 tries scored over the day, only Cardiff Barbarians topped us with 28.

There were some interesting discrepancies between the referees, especially with re.....More

Bring a friend to Senior Training Tuesday 3rd August
Created : 28th Jul 21

In an effort to build our community and recruit new players, we are asking everyone to bring a friend to training to #JoinTheHerd for the evening!

This could be a work colleague, uni mate, school friend, or just a random guy from the pub; just invite who you fancy - no previous rugby experience needed.

It will take place on Tuesday 3rd August to give everyone a chance to ask around. We will not be training the week before so let’s make sure we get big numbers. There will be beers afterwards if you want to sweeten the deal (although surely you shouldn’t have to). Extra beers/maybe even some FOOD available for those who do, in fact, bring a mate.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Club AGM 23rd July 21
Created : 9th Jul 21

Here is the Notice of the Club AGM to be held on 23rd July at 7.30 pm by Zoom.

We have taken the decision to hold the AGM by Zoom to ensure that people who may be concerned about attending an event in person are able to attend and vote, and to minimise the risk of any case requiring people to self-isolate during the holiday period following the AGM.

Please note that any member may request that a matter be raised as Any Other Business. It would be helpful if you could submit your request to me in advance of the meeting. Likewise, any nominations for Officers of the Club can be made during that agenda item or in advance of the meeting.

Any nominations should be proposed and seconded by Voting Members and should have the consent of the nominee. Again, it would be helpful to have advance notice of any such nominations.

Please support the Club by attending the AGM. It shouldn’t take too long and our governance is strengthened by havi.....More

Walking Rugby - Sat 17th July 21 12pm - 5pm
Created : 5th Jul 21

With walking rugby being played throughout the year, we have decided enough is enough - it’s time to bring competitive walking rugby back to Stoke Park at our own festival.

Having recently entered two teams in a mini tournament at Chobham RFC, we staggered home with the top two spots under our covid expanded belts alongside a pint or two of the local ale. The mere suggestion of a festival at our club was met with such enthusiasm, we got straight on the case and emailed out invitations to other clubs.

Within 2 weeks, we have 10 teams confirmed with another 2 in the pipeline. The beer and pies are on order and we’re going ahead full throttle (although that’s not allowed in the current rules).

Supporters and new players are always welcome. The fun starts around midday with medal and trophy presentations around 5pm.

We have welcomed 10 new players since April and are always on the lookout for more. With Sunday and Tuesday training sessions eve.....More

Seniors Ready 4Rugby tournament
Created : 29th May 21

The seniors were back in action on 24 April, finishing as runners up in a Ready4Rugby tournament hosted by Weybridge Vandals.

Twelve teams took part including two from Guildfordians, with the tournament structured as a round robin between two pools of six and the top two from each pool progressing to the semi-finals.

One of the Guildfordians sides finished the day runners up, losing a hard fought final 3-1 to the Bank of England team, after group stage wins versus two Vandals sides and Lightwater, followed by a semi-final victory over Richmond.

The other Guildfordians side exited at the group stage despite well-earned wins against a third Vandals side and Met Police.

U18 Girls Ready 4 Rugby Tourament
Created : 1st May 21

Surrey Rugby set up a Ready 4 Rugby tournament on Sunday, 25th April 2021, at Imber Court.

Guildfordians fielded two U18 Girls teams of 11 players each - team Red and team Yellow. A total of 8 x U 18 Girls team entered the tournament from across Surrey and we were split into two groups with one of our teams in each group.

Team Red started the day off against Warlingham A with the first fixture and illustrated fantastic running rugby and handling skills to score 7 tries to 1. Team Yellow followed team Red's lead with an impressive display against Chobham and playing a clever game plan on the narrow pitch with constant attacks down the middle to run in 5 unopposed tries.

Round 2 saw team Red take on Old Reigatians, which is always a fantastic encounter. Both teams played extremely well, but Team Red adapted some of the Yellow's game plan this time and it worked in our favour to end with 4 tries to 3 in a close encounter. Team Yellow took on Warling.....More
